Well, Dmitry had recovered from his chickenpox and began schooling this Monday. Unfortunately, Rich began to get the symptom on Monday late morning when LA noticed some red spots and small blisters popping out on his face. By Wednesday, he had blisters all over his body.

And today, guess what? Nik begins to show symptoms. His outbreak is slow with fewer blisters. We are supposed to meet up with LY tomorrow but it looks like impossible. They are so afraid that their daughter (same age as Nik) may get the chickenpox too.

Well, all three of them have gotten their chickenpox.

Hurray! Let’s have chicken pox party! Wait a minute… Am I going crazy? Who wants to have chickenpox? Huh… You see. In the past, parents would throw a chicken pox party when their children got chickenpox. The idea was to let other children to contract the virus naturally rather through inoculation. Once a person has contracted chickenpox, he/she will have immunity to chicken pox for the rest of his/her life. The only drawback is that person will have a chance to have shingles when the immunity gets low.

Dmitry has got chickenpox this morning. I didn’t see any when I had bath with him yesterday. So, the doctor gave him one week medical leave and advised him to stay at home. Nowadays people are so afraid to let their children to get chickenpox. This is a sign of overly protective. Children should not be sent back to school. But I personally think that why not as long as the children have no fever and as long as personal hygiene is taken care of.

Lets go spread some virus! He…he…

This afternoon I had to rush to my karate class because I was late again. When I got into my car and sped off, I reached out for the buckle above my right shoulder. Suddenly, I heard a loud audible ‘clack’ coming from my left shoulder. I thought I would have worsen my shoulder bursitis. Miraculously, there wasn’t any pain but I felt having better mobility and greater degree of movement. Before this, I could barely lift up my left arm to touch the other shoulder without assistance of my right hand, and the movement would be slow. Now, I can lift up my left arm to touch the other shoulder at will. Of course, I still feel a little sore on my left shoulder.

Anyway, I was very much worried about my shoulder. I was so afraid that I would need a surgery. Thank God that it is improving now.

My dad was admitted to the General Hospital yesterday due to suspecting of food poisoning. He was actually going to the Community Polyclinic at Pantai Peringgit for his routine medical checkup. But he had been having diarrhea since last week and yesterday he began to vomit.

There wasn’t any vacant ward so they put him in the A&E ward. He was transferred to medical ward this morning. When I visited him two hours ago, I saw his eyes were swollen. His eye bags were filled with fluid. I knew he was having allergic reaction and I quickly checked with the nurse.

There were some young doctors there. A female doctor attended to me and my dad to see what’s going on. Her name was Dr. Ng. I told her that my dad was allergic to NSAID (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs). They prescribed him Aspirin. She said they had stopped giving him aspirin.

This was negligence and I pursued the responsibility with her. I am regarded as some kind of pain-in-the-ass by some people. I could see her facial reaction when I told her that I would pursue this responsibility. She quickly apologized and carefully worked through the documents. I backed off a little when I saw her diligence. I am not totally a pain-in-the-ass after all. I am not totally unreasonable.

She found a remark stating my dad was allergic to two unknown drugs. I told her, when a patient had informed the doctor or the nurse of his unknown allergic, then it would be the normal procedure to go through the patient’s medical history to find out what he was allergic to. Assessment had to be made accordingly if the patient was medically illiterate. The hospital should also immediately contact his family to find out what his allergies.

She apologized again and suggested me to speak to her superior tomorrow morning. She apologized again and I told her it was not her fault because my dad had been admitted at the same hospital with the same allergic reaction. Someone did not do their job well.

He was prescribed NSAID by an A&E doctor at the same general hospital and had mild allergic reaction. This happened in early 2007. In May 2007, the Community Polyclinic at Pantai Peringgit prescribed him Diclofenac Sodium and he had a bad allergic reaction and was admitted to the general hospital at night. I wrote about this here.

Why does this happen again for the 3rd time?

I am going to be someone’s real pain-in-the-ass tomorrow.

My aunt and her husband were talking about some mosquito transmitted fever with joint pains when we visited her yesterday. They told us the epidermic was spreading in Segamat, Tangkak, Sagil and Muar. The epidemic they were talking about was Chikungunya fever. This disease is transmitted by infected Aedes mosquitoes. Today, there are 4 reported cases in Malacca.

The outbreak is caused by raining season. Singapore has reported an outbreak in earlier this year in January. Although it is not as deadly as dengue fever, I will take no chance to allow our kids to expose to the Aedes mosquitoes. No outdoor activities in the evening for a while.

Prostate cancer is non-skin cancer but carcinomatous growth in the prostate gland. It is a nut sized gland in males at the neck of urethra; produces a viscid secretion that is the fluid part of the semen.

it is the 3rd leading killer in men’s cancer. You may have or may not have any prostate cancer symptoms at all because prostate cancer is slow growing but at times it can grow quickly. African-American men have the highest risk than Caucasian or Asian men.

Fortunately, there is new prostate cancer treatment available. Sonablate 500 is a non-invasive medical device that uses HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) to treat prostate cancer. This new technology is giving new hope to men in fighting prostate cancer and BPH (enlarged prostate).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
The Sonablate 500 is not approved for use in the U.S. The Sonablate 500 remains investigational in the U.S. and is being studied for the treatment of prostate cancer in clinical trials in the U.S. FDA has made no decision as to the safety or efficacy of the Sonablate 500 for the treatment of prostate cancer. Currently, the device is approved for the treatment of prostate cancer in Canada and the Dominican Republic, authorized in Argentina, and available in the Bahamas and Mexico.

Human Growth Hormone or HGH is a natural hormone produced by the pituitary gland. In children, this hormone is a messenger protein to make a child grows larger and stronger. Without this hormone, the child can never grow larger. In adults, this hormone regulates body metabolism and maintain good body composition. HGH promotes muscle development, regulates fat usage and converts fat into energy. HGH also regulates body’s ratio of good and bad cholesterol, bone density and rejuvenates the body.

When a body has HGH deficiency, symptoms of weak bones, poor muscle development, increase waist size and body’s fat ratio, unusual body’s ratio of good and bad cholesterol, depression and isolation will develop. Some people do not naturally produce enough HGH.

Hypertropin, an rdna origin and injectable delivery, is a way to supplement the natural human growth hormone for people who may be deficient in this hormone. Hypertropin made by secretion technology, is identical to the natural human growth hormone that is produced by the pituitary gland. It is safely synthesized. It is almost safe if it is used as directed although some side-effects are possible. Hypertropin rejuvenate your body and let you feel younger and more energetic. It helps you to lead a youthful life. Consult your doctor before use.

There is cooking oil rush nationwide when the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry announced shortage of cooking oil and limited consumers to buy a 5kg cooking oil at one move. This rationing will not affect my family as we are always on healthy diet. Less frying and we loves steamed food.

Steamed foods are more healthy than oily fried food. I guess it is the time for us to eat more steamed foods rather than using oil to cook. If you like fried chicken, you may consider pan fried without oil or pan grilled. The fat in the chicken will be melted and flow out of the meat making it more healthy. It is also very delicious too.

Salad made of fresh vegetables with delicious Italian sauces is another healthy food too. The vitamins in the vegetables will not be destroyed by heat. Our children love salad as well.

The rationing will encourage more hawkers to recycle cooking oil. So, avoid fried foods like goreng pisang (fried banana) and fried chicken.

A change of your diet is not only good for your health, it is also good for your economy. Save more money rather than funding cooking oil producers and hypermarket! Why is there a sudden shortage? To raise price!

Since the opening of the dōkōkai in November, my dinner on weekdays are usually post training. Sometimes I continued my training after the class and I would be home around 10 or 10:30pm. It is rather late for dinner but LA had kept some food for me. I felt very difficult to sleep after the dinner even though I did not eat too much. I know this is bad for health but there is an empty stomach. So, I would continue working on computer to let the food be digested a little. But I will usually linger until midnight or pass midnight before going to bed.

Yesterday, I changed my pattern to try it out. I had my dinner before the training. Not a full dinner but it certainly did not feel good during the first part of the training. I guess I will have to have my dinner a little earlier, about 5 to avoid a full stomach during the training at 7.

I had a grapefruit and 6 slices of breads last night after the training. I felt much better but I slept at 2am because I was updating my blog.

Or perhaps, some light food and fruits before training and bread after training will be better off. I should try this today.

My friend’s father-in-law died of mouth cancer last year. I did not know about it until I met him two weeks ago when he came back from US for visiting.

I know a friend from Norway who likes to chew tobacco. I hope he is reading this. Please stop chewing tobacco and take good care of yourself. I have seen so much people suffering from cancer. I wish you best of health.

We went to Pak Putra for dinner last night. It was dinner time and there were too many people at the restaurant. The restaurant was very busy and in a chaos. We waited for some time for our drinks to arrive. Then another some time for our foods to arrive. The kids were getting a little inpatient. Finally, we got all the foods to fill our empty stomachs. Our foods came, some were not exactly the same as what we ordered. Our Tandoori chicken was not baked thoroughly and etc…

We are regular customer there. The boss, his wife, his brothers and some of their old staff know us and we are very much like friends. After the food, when I settled the bill, I made a feedback to one of the boss’ brother about the service. He assured me and told me to make our orders through him next time we come.

About leaving, another brother of the boss approached us and apologized for the chaos and the service. We gladly accepted his apology and that’s what I call “Service”! We had a short chat and LA asked about the lady, his sister-in-law. We used to see her sitting at the counter. We have not been seeing her since this January/February. So, out of curiosity, LA asked him.

He told us that she has lung cancer! What a shock we had. She was so healthy and a non-smoker. He told us her condition is getting better but needs a lot of rest. We wish her best of health and a speedy recovery.

We encountered many people, friends, relatives and acquaintance who suddenly have been diagnosed of cancer or suddenly died of cancer. My sister, Angie, died of cancer 2 years ago.

That’s life. What can we do?

LA and I decided to donate RM1 to Hospice for every bouquet sold. This is the least we can do to spread our love to those unfortunate but brave cancer victors to fight the horrible cancer. So, let’s reach out this Christmas and share your love.

Many of the local brands of yogurt are heavily sweetened and I don’t really like them. Certainly, we don’t like to give them to the kids. All these local brands including imported brands of yogurt are really smooth. All the while, I enjoyed smooth yogurt. This becomes the opposite not long before I read in Purely Random about yogurt. LA has told me about stirring yogurt some times ago.

Don’t stir the yogurt! All the yogurts on the shelf are stirred and blended with bits and favors of fruits to enhance the taste. In the process of adding fruity favors and bits, the yogurt has to be stirred. Stirring breaks up the solid texture of the yogurt.

The Sunglo’s all natural yogurt contains all the solid texture. It tastes great when mixed with fruity jam!

The price of the yogurts are getting more expensive now. I am thinking of making our own yogurt. I will write about our experience making our own yogurt later.
