Sports Day 2009

February 28th, 2009 at 14:57 · Filed Under At Play, Blogging, Days in My Life, Dmitry, Family · Comment

Today is the first time for Dmitry to involve in a sporting event organized by his school. We were up early and sent Richie and Nik to grandma’s. By the time we were at his school, there were many people already. We found a place to sit.

Dmitry took part in a multi-game and 4 x 50m event. His team was in 4th place thus he did not win anything but his old folks, LA and I won prizes in parents’ events.

LA won first place for threading a needle. She was the fastest of all leaving behind other mothers with a big gap. I won a second place for picking up a mineral water bottle using a drinking straw and ran 10 meters to the finish line. Both prices were bath towels.

The prize is not important. What important is to show Dmitry sporting spirit from his daddy and mommy.

Kids’ first karaoke

We were invited by LA’s sister and her husband to Su-Ann’s be-lated birthday celebration. We embarked to PJ around 1100 yesterday and arrived at her brother’s house around 1400. Almost all of LA’s family members were there. We had some light food for lunch then took a rest.

We headed to Neway Karaoke Box in One Utama at 1700. The karaoke box was huge. The lounge was big enough to fit in all 20+ of us. It was a buffet dinner with free karaoke. The food was very nice and everyone was enjoying and had a full tummy.

As for our boys, this was their new experience, a new one. They had no idea what karaoke was about. Dmitry was really enjoying singing with his cousins. He sang Beauty and the Beast and Reflection (theme song in Mulan). I would say not bad at all at his age. He could recognize all the words in the lyrics. He was good comparing to his old daddy. Ha.. ha..

Dietrich joined him for a few kid’s songs. Dominik roaming around and having fun with all sort of food. He really enjoyed the food and the noises there.

We left for Melaka at 2245 and touched base at 0115. The kids were soundly asleep after a fun karaoke and tummy filling buffet session.

A great Sunday morning

Yesterday, we took two bicycles to the town for repair. I hadn’t been using the bicycle carrier since 2006. In the evening, we took the bicycles to the park. After dinner, we went home and the weather seemed like to rain. Actually, I thought of taking the kids and the bikes to the park again the next morning. But it started to rain before midnight. We changed the plan, no bike but jogging at the park.

This morning, the weather was so cool because after the rain and was perfect to go fill up the gas tank. So, we all woke up early and went to the petrol station to fill up the tank. After that we went to the park followed by breakfast.

We went to the old part of Melaka China town near by the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple for dim sum. This restaurant is Melaka most famous and oldest dim sum restaurant and one of the very few pioneer. My dad used to bought us buns and glutinous rice in lotus leaf. They were delicious 30 years ago as I could remember. That was one of the bad dim sum we ever had. Actually, the taste not too bad at all but certainly was not a good one. The service was very bad and not really kids- or baby- friendly. We quickly had some and left. When checking the bill, it was quite expensive. I will definitely not recommend that dim sum restaurant.

Forget about the bad experience at breakfast. Anyway, we all enjoyed very much today. At night we watched movies at home.

A holiday out

What a day out! We were at Seleria (a food court in Mahkota Parade) for lunch. There were many people although it had already passed the lunch hour. 3 dinos and the two papa mama dinos were hungry. After I bought the food, I tried to find a baby chair for Nik. I saw 3 were taken and could not find any more. I asked the cashier where I could find baby chair. She told me there were only 3. Only 3? Was she joking? So, I asked her why such a big food court (I think not less than 10,000 square feet) had only 3 baby chairs. She replied, “people steels it away. They just push out…” I shook my head and gave a sinister look and sarcastically replied, “then get more chairs and have a security guard at the door! Damn!”

We went home around 4:30. Rested, took a shower and out we went to buy satay (barbecue chicken in stick with peanut chili sauce) and noodles for dinner.

What a day out for this holiday. The 3 dinos were really tired out. They are now in their dino wonderlands…

An invitation to hiking and hunting

November 1st, 2007 at 12:15 · Filed Under At Play, Blogging, Days in My Life, Holidays, Marketing, Shopping · Comment

Last month, a friend of mine, Garry called me and invited me for a hiking and hunting. Garry and I have known each other for 2 decades. We met during a hiking. We are both enthusiastic about archery. Recently, Garry has developed immense interest in archery hunting so he invited me to share this new exciting sports. Too bad, killing animals for joy is not my cup of tea so I turned him away. I did not want to disappoint him totally so I told him I would join him for hiking.

I guess I won’t be able to hike with him because of some other commitments. I have been thinking of getting him a pair of hiking boots for Christmas. Since Garry is so into hiking and hunting, I think the hiking boots will be a great Christmas gift for Garry. MetBoots ships internationally and offers free shipping on items above $100. MetBoots also offers gift certificate for someone special.

MetBoots also has a variety of hunting boots to choose from. I bet people like Garry will be fond of it.

Another Sweet Reminiscence

Last night, it was a surprised to receive some photos from Sensei. They were taken at the Torri Station Beach Party more than a month ago on Okinawa.

It was a nice and sweet reminiscence of the great time there. The photos have lightened up me a bit. I have been busy with some projects including the new dojo. There were a lot of things in my head and in addition of the cold, I was a little stressed out and the photos came in just in time. :)

Beach Party at Torii Station

We went to a beach party (Summer Bash) at the Torii Beach inside of US Army camp at Torii Station. I put on a red Hawaiian shirt which Sumako presented to me. There were many people when we arrived. The beach had got very beautiful scenery. The music was hot. The foods were tempting and ample. Kids were running around having big time fun.

The food was great! 100% American taste. They had roast pig, barbecue burger and hotdog, rice balls, beef spring rolls, egg rolls, pastries, cheese cake (my favorite!), snacks, beers, soft drinks and a lot more.

The kids and the adults had great times playing games.

And there were hotdog eating and “Fear Factors” competitions.

I had a stroll on the beach with Sensei and Sumako. The sunset background was over exposed otherwise this would be a great picture for them.
