About
Here keeps the treasures of thoughts, critiques, experience, knowledge, hypothesis, idiosyncrasy and anything else…
Hello, I am Adrian Hoe and welcome to my home page. This home page is always under construction. So, do check out for latest update from time to time.I live and work in Malacca. I am a software engineer and my works, of course, involve software engineering. Software engineering is very different from programming. Generally, many people often cannot distinguish between software engineer and programmer and their jobs, at least here in my country. It is like comparing a farmer to a gardener. Software engineer is like farmer. This is just an analogy.
My main focus is research and development of high-performance computing software. Almost all of my projects use Ada. Ada is a high level programming language. So, I have included lots of information and links to Ada. Certainly, you can call me an Ada-phile.
Because I work in a SO-HO or mobile office and I travel very often, I can be contacted more reliably by e-mail than by phone. Sometimes, I switch off my phone during discussion or when I am squeezing Ada codes out of my millions of obstinate brain cells. Sometimes, my phone is simply just running out of battery. Under such conditions, you will hear a female voice saying that I am unreachable. To avoid the “Unreachable_Exception”, please e-mail me.
When I am not writing computer codes or traveling for work, my passions are my family, karate-do, photography and gardening. I am an amateur photographer. You can see the pictures of our beautiful flowers in our garden at my photography page. When I’m not doing these, I will spend the weekends with my family watching movies at home or have some outings.
My blogging has captivated my interest to be a writer. I am polishing my writing skill (both in English and Chinese) with my blogging. I also learn a lot about inputing Japanese Hiragana or Kanji through blogging.
A siesta is my favorite. But being a father of three, a siesta is an exotic luxury that I can only enjoy less often.
Research Interests
A fool … is a man who never tried an experiment in his life. — Erasmus Darwin (1711-1802, English physician, grandfather of Charles Darwin)
The following interests has captured me but ever since I started on them, the progress has been tremendously slow to a halt when new tasks or works come along the way.
My other non-profession related research includes the medical implication of karate techniques and the medical implication of jiyu kumite (free sparring) especially in childhood and adolescence. Having introduced to sports science after obtaining the Malaysia’s National Sport Science Level 1 certification, my interest in this area grew. In addition to this, I am also into the research of karate kata since I have tremendous interest in kata. Kata is a pre-arranged sequence of movement for practicing alone. Kata contains many techniques, some are shown openly, some are hidden. By studying the kata in depth, one can understand the ancient wisdom of those great martial artists.
My Karate Passion
I began to gain more passion in karate after years of leaving. My son, Dmitry, has sparked off my karate passion again and he is the reason I come to training and teaching karate again. My comeback is not uneventful. All the happenings and events have gradually led me to the enlightenment about karate training and have also led me to many wonderful people in Uechi-Ryu Zankai on Okinawa. Read further about my karate passion here.
This Site
This site has become enormous space since I started blogging in May 2006. It contains an array of my personal thoughts, ideas, experience and knowledge which I have obtained from my life, work and karate training. It has evolved from just merely a website to a blog. Blogging has provided me an opportunity to write about almost everything and to sharpen my writing skill in both English and Chinese. You may notice some posts are sponsored entries and I get paid for them. It is actually very easy to make money while blogging. If you are interested in making money blogging, you should sign up for Pay Per Post.
I also have a disclosure policy which you can read about here.
