My new blog title

May 20th, 2008 at 22:39 · Filed Under Blogging, Mathematics, Philosophy

As you can see, I have a new blog title “Pragmatic Revelations”. I also like my old title “The Eccentric Logic of An Eclectic Mind”. Actually, I am a little too sentiment to change to the new blog title and not using the old one. When M emailed me she preferred the old title, I did agree with her that my old title is more catchy. But at the same time, I also like Pragmatic Revelations. How greedy I am!

When I write something and come out of some nice ideas, I become sentimental and get attached to them very quickly. So, in order to not losing both, I come out another idea. A little confusing though but I think it matches the new title.

If you notice the title on your browser window, it reads “Pragmatic Revelations ⊃ The Eccentric Logic of An Eclectic Mind”. To help readers understand better, “The Eccentric Logic of An Eclectic Mind”, meaning the unconventional (or unusual or odd) way of logical reasoning of a mind made up of or combining elements from a variety of sources. The dictionary precisely describes “Pragmatic” and “Revelations” so I do not want to repeat their meanings here. Now…

(Super set) A ⊇ B means every element of B is also element of A. A ⊃ B means A ⊇ B but A ≠ B.

Got it?

    Both are very nice titles.

Combining both makes it a little too philosophical and mathematical. Sounds confusing, contradicting… a paradox?

Ha! Paradoxically insane… another title? :P

    Oxymoronic concoction

    How about that?

Well, well, well. Look who’s here talking?

I like “Oxymoronic concoction”. Some readers regard me as a moron. I think they will agree with the word Oxymoronic having the sound of “moron” in it. :)

Why do they call you moron?

Some people from the karate or generally the martial arts community call me a moron because I have a different view in martial arts especially “qi” in the Taijiquan community. I broke their sacred belief of “qi”. And in karate, I broke their belief in training and the honor of their lineage. That’s one of the reasons I chose “Revelations” because I revealed the truth and lies in their practice.

Just recently, I learned that a group of people (students including a couple of lecturers) from EngSoc (Engineering Society) of MMU regards me as a stubborn moron and difficult to work with.

Why were you involving in engineering? What happened then?

One of my karate student (engineering) wanted to learn Ada so she talked to some lecturers to arrange for a seminar. She is studying robotics and she has heard about Ada from me. Ada fascinated her.

The “High Com” of EngSoc made an arrangement for a seminar which contained several talks. The time was in late evening starting from 8pm. Firstly, they did not even consult before making the arrangement. Secondly, they arranged the seminar out of normal office hour.

It was very rude for these “High Com” (students) taking matters into their own hands expecting everyone to live by MMU’s culture. MMU students have classes even exams at night!

So, I rejected them. They proposed second date and that even worst! After my first rejection, no one was trying to communicate with me to discuss about the date and time. They simply re-rescheduled to another day at the same time.

I rejected them again and I never heard from them. Then I heard some comments from the High Com and some lecturers who were involved. One lecturer knew about this and he could not even bother to email me.

They were really inconsiderate and had no courtesy at all towards invited guests. They expect everybody to live by their culture and time domain. Really arrogant and silly bunch of university students (and lecturers).

High Com is sort of High Committee in the society. They like to have catchy titles like CEO etc. A bunch of fools thinking they out smart others.
