The happiest day in 2008
Perhaps, today is my happiest day in 2008. The accomplishment of the past few days has been astonishing and satisfactory. Although there has been ups and downs and some scums are trying to make my days miserable, they have not succeeded. So, make my day, scum heads. I am very optimistic about 2008 and the new Rat year.
GPS data uploaded
Finally, I have had the time to upload the GPS data I collected from yesterday’s delivery. The data is now all in the Windows box. It is too late to remove some unwanted data (data from other trips e.g. Zakimi on Okinawa and etc.). So I just make another copy of all the data and probably will edit them during this CNY.
I am kind of thirsty for more GPS data from delivery or trips to alien places. Anymore delivery? It is kinda fun. It is like treasure hunting, or tracking down a location. It is really exciting and fun!
Shopping for CNY
This morning I took everyone to Jusco for some browsing. I seldom buy new clothing for CNY simply because I don’t find the clothing around this time is cheap and of good quality and nice. We went there for the sake of browsing hopefully could pick up some interesting items. We did not find anything interesting for the kids. By this weekend and next week, all shopping malls will be jam-packed with people. I hate to navigate through crowds and queuing up to pay.
6th anniversary
Tomorrow will be the 6th anniversary for AdrianHoe.com. Time really flies. On the last day of 2007, my site has reached 1,000,000 visitors. 6 years for 1 million visitors. It is not really high hits. But, since I made my site to a blog since May 2006, my site has received more hits in 2007. I believe 2008 will draw more traffics to my site with my own SEO and tags analysis.
Dinos are down with flu
Oh dear! Three dinos are down with flu again. CNY is just around the corner. This is what LA and I fear about. I took them to the clinic nearby to get some flu medicine then took them for a spin at downtown. In the car while waiting for the light to turn green, I taught Richie the word “downtown” and “uptown”.
We went to the town to see some CNY decoration. The decoration is not as beautiful as 20 years ago. Partly the reason is lack of sponsorship. Shops are not willing to sponsor as the local government does not care to participate in the CNY decoration.
I hope I will have some time this weekend to go downtown for photo shooting. I always wanted to do it but did not find time for it. I hope this year I can find some time for it.
GPS Guided Delivery
Delivery all done! A dozen hampers at 4 locations in Selangor/Kuala Lumpur. 3 out of 4 locations were alien places to me because I had never been there. Drop #1 in Sungai Long, Drop #2 was in Sungai Besi, Drop #3 in PJ and Drop #4 in Selayang. 1, 2 and 4 were places I was not familiar with and had never been there.
I arrived at Kajang toll at 1130 hours and started to use my GPS device to guide me. Found the place easily by following the GPS guidance. It took some times to navigate through some messy traffics and finding the block and the unit. But I managed to drop off and proceed to Drop #2 at 1215 hours.
Drop #2 and #4 needed some communication with the clients as their address were without street name. They used lot number as they were in industrial park. That complicated the process a little. By 1507 hours, all goods delivered.
On the night before, I researched on the GPS map and found Drop #1 and marked it. Easy job. I had to defer Drop #2 and #4 until morning so that I could call up the clients for some direction. I called them this morning and could roughly know the locations and marked them.
What made this mission interesting was an ironic demarcation which a traditional delivery versus technology-assisted delivery. While heading to Sungai Long after exiting Kajang toll, I saw a cab driver with a full load of hampers in his cab. He was on a hamper delivery mission too. The difference was that he was looking at his hand drawn map on the steering wheel. In great contrast, I was guided by GPS.
The mission had helped me to build a Clientele GIS.
Orders All Done!
We received an order of 11 hampers from KL last Saturday. After 3 days of sleepless night, finally we had all the orders done up and ready for delivery tomorrow. LA, especially, has 3 sleepless nights. She did not sleep at all last night. I just done helping her to get the last two hampers up so that she can wrap them up in the afternoon and go to bed early tonight. I will go to bed early tonight. It will be a busy and hard day tomorrow to delivery to various locations around KL. I will be traveling alone tomorrow as the car will be a load full of hampers.

Family Delivery Team
We all went to Subang Jaya to deliver hampers order yesterday. Our plan was to go to 1U for shopping after the delivery. But the car AC and the front brake were giving problem. When we arrived at Subang Jaya, the AC began to blow hot air instead of nice cool air. After the delivery, the AC wasn’t functioning properly yet and the front brake started making some noises. According to my driving experience, I decided to take the car in for a examination by my brother-in-law’s friend. His workshop was in Damansara Utama.
It was a long way from USJ1 to DU and the roads were quite jam packed. When we finally arrived at the workshop, poor R and N were sweating. They had rosy cheeks and sweat wet shirts! What a mobile sauna.
I changed the brake pad mid last year and it was finished in less than a year. So much of the Honda’s spare parts quality!
And the AC, the magnetic clutch of the compressor became faulty and needed to be replaced. The repair would take about 2 hours so we took 3 dinos to Starbucks to cool down with ice blended drinks while waiting for my sister-in-law’s husband to come to take them to her house.
The car was ready around 6PM and I went to my SIL’s house to meet them. We proceeded to 1U in the evening for a quick shopping. LA did not find any shoes she likes. We went to FCUK and nothing eye catching except the price tags. We had dinner at 1U and hang around until almost 10:30PM.
We arrived home around 1AM. When we arrived, we suddenly realized we forgot to attend our neighbor’s grandchild full moon party. The next morning, our neighbor came to our house to deliver some cakes and red eggs and we apologized to her for not attending. What a day!
Tiger
Previously, I wrote an article about a story of keeping tiger. Tiger is among the big ferocious cats I like. The tiger’s face is the main attraction, especially its captivating eyes.
Due to its beautiful fur, tiger has become an endangered species. Poachers hunt tigers for their beautiful fur. In some places, development activities have invaded tigers’ natural habitat forcing tigers to hunt for food near human settlement. Not all tigers hunt human. Most man hunters are old tigers which can no longer hunt like a young tiger and turn their hunting target to human. Many species have already extinct, like, the Javanese and Balinese tigers.

I am a buddhist
I am a buddhist. And my family are buddhists. Although I regard buddhism as a philosophy and education system, my family and I are true buddhists. The beauty of buddhism is that it is a peaceful religion and away from politics.
I am very comfortable with the buddhism I am following now and there is no need to change my religion. And I will never change to other religion.

Goods sold are not returnable
Do you know your rights as a consumer? Read on. Benji sent me this information yesterday. I think it is good to share this information to exercise consumers’ rights to shape a better community.
Legal Issue on Contract Law in Malaysia – Good for us to know
Do you notice that most of the time, the receipt / invoice you received from the merchant carries this exclusion clause or similarly worded statement: “Goods sold are not returnable” or “No refund once sold”.
Please remember that : “As long as your goods is purchased for home use and not for business ( i.e. to be resold), the above exclusion clause is void.
That means, as long as the good is defective, regardless of what is worded, you can get back all your money spent . You do not have to accept a repair on the good or an exchange. You can ask for a refund. And you are legally right and entitled to!
And most of the time the merchant will refuse to return you your money.
You may threaten the merchant with four words: “See you in court!”
The court here refers to the Small Claims Tribunal Court. Any goods which is worth RM25,000 and below can apply to this Court.
However, you don’t have to tell them what court! All you have to pay is RM10 admin fee and the loser (the merchant) will have to refund you the money plus the admin fee!
I have seen that most educated people are cowed by such unfair wordings (which includes a few of my friends).
Please try not to let the merchant fleece you the next time you have defective goods.
You can file this On the 16th floor of Putra Place (The Mall opposite Putra World Trade Centre) . The form cost RM5.00 . The Tribunal will settle within 2 months period.

A tiring day
Whew! After about two months of not coaching at schools, it is certainly tiring to coach two classes. Tonight, one student took the grading test. He missed the December grading and he missed last week test too. I thought more would come for the test as some little tigers from Jasin missed their test last week. Only one student turned up for grading.
Not too tiring giving grading test though. But it was really weary to correct his mistakes. I think I will go to bed early tonight. I don’t feel like carry on with some of my work.
First day at school
Today is the first training day at school after the long year-end school holidays. All schools re-opened on January 3 but co-curriculum activities only begin this week. Many old members dropped out already. Today has 90+ students came to enroll themselves into the school karate club. What a big crowd! But again, they are interim. According to my teaching experience in school, by the next two weeks, the number will drop drastically to less than half. By another 2 to 3 weeks, the number will reduce half again. It’s fine for me and it is a healthy sign as the the filtering process will filter out casual members. I hope to spot one or two (or maybe a few) potential butterflies like Ong.
The process of registering their name with the school karate club committee was quite a mess as this was the first time for these 14-year-old teenagers to handle such a big crowd. Off course, I helped out by showing them what to do. At least I was able to train the other old members. Unlike last year, I alone handled more than 100+ head counts.
Haircut United!
Last evening, I went for my hair cut at a Malay stall at Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho. I have had my haircut there for a couple of times. Yesterday, I met a long loss family friend there. He is the pakcik who gave me haircut when I was a little boy at the age of Dmitry. His barber shop was at the MARA shops at the riverside not far away from my dad’s place. My dad used to take me there for haircuts. I can remember I was crying during the haircut until primary school. I had my haircut there until mid secondary school. After that, like all other teens, I had my haircut at fashion salons.
His shop has been pulverized for tourist spot development three years ago. Before it was demolished, I met him there a few times a couple years ago and I brought Dmitry there for a haircut once. I didn’t know his whereabout after the demolition.
It was fated to meet him again last evening. I somehow felt something was going to happen yesterday morning. It was really nice to meet him again. He was working there as a partner with his ex-employee/partner. So, he gave me a handsome haircut and we made a picture together. Hope to see him again the next trip.
After the haircut, I went home happily, washed my hair, took a quick shower and a quick snack then out I went to doukoukai for my training.
