Massive traffic jam in Malacca during festive season
During this Deepa-Raya festive season, the Malacca town was experiencing massive traffic jam. Affected areas were J. Bunga Raya, J. Bendahala, J. Temenggong, Lrg. Bukit Cina, Stadhuys to Mahkota Parade, Jonker Walk.
If nothing absolutely necessary, avoid these areas. The city council should have better traffic planning and have more police personnel to man the traffic.

Listen to my podcast
Hi Adrian,
We drove all the way from Singapore to Melaka for holiday. Unfortunately, my car had got an accident. The front bumper was smashed at left side and fell off. This was the cause of a very impatient and rude Malay guy in late 40 to mid 50. We were stucked at J. Bendahara. Everyone was waiting patiently but this rude man was very impatient and cut through the jam by cutting in and out, right to left and vice versa. I noticed his car coming from behind and I was alerted. Anyhow, his car knocked into my front left bumper when he tried to cutting from the right. This made our holiday unpleasant.
I have heard about Malaysians compalining about Singaporeans’ reckless driving in Malaysia. I think some Malaysian are even reckless. Damn the guy!
Anyway, I enjoy reading your website/weblog. It is very easy to the eye. If the font can be slightly bigger, it will be better and easier to read.
BTW, get well soon. I read about your eye.
Happy holiday.
Dear Collin,
I’m sorry to hear that your holiday is ruined. I am hoping that you will read this reply. Since things have already happened and nothing can be done except bring your car to the workshop, why not move forward and continue enjoying your holiday?
Thanks for visiting Malacca and my web site. I hope you will come back often. Do not let bad things to forbid you from doing so. I believe there are more nice people in both Singapore and Malaysia. Let’s make the world a better place to live, instead of hate.
Best regards,
will visit Singapore 5-7 Jan. 07 and plan to drive to Malacca for one day. Any advice on car rental, duration and direction?
many thanks.
Weigang,
Thanks for dropping by. If you are entering Malaysia from SIngapore, it is best to rent a car from Singapore. I don’t know about Johor Bahru but there is no reputable car rental services in Melaka. It is about 3 hours drive from singapore to Melaka depending on the traffic condition at the customs and the way you drive. You can get out from the high way at Ayer Keroh toll to enter the city of Malacca. It is about 30-45 minutes drive from Ayer Keroh toll to city center.
I hope you will enjoy your stay in Malacca.
